The landing gear of all 1 to 2 ton models is retractable. This allows you to navigate through narrow entrances and passages. When you're ready to start digging, you can widen the track again for maximum stability.

To retract the tracks and narrow the machine, you can use the blade and excavator arms to lift the machine off the ground. Then you use the blade lever to bring the track in. By raising the machine off the ground, you protect the extended and retracted tracks from any sharp rocks or rebar that might lie beneath it.
